Hello, my name is Bob Kirkby in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I joined the forum two years ago so I thought it was time to introduce myself in case anyone is interested.
I had a Starduster Too some years ago and sold it in 2006. But I've always been in love with biplanes so I found myself wishing I had never sold the SD. So 2 years ago I started looking for another one. I found a suitable candidate last year in OK, bought it and flew it 13.5 hours home to Calgary last summer. It has an O-360 with 800 hours but lots of time in storage - pickled. It flew great on the trip home, and since.
I'll try including a photo below. Some of you may have seen it before. Coincidentally I spotted a photo of it in a post by Dave Baxter with lots of other photos from 2014.
I bought it through David Dodd Aircraft Sales in Woodward, OK but it was last owned and flown by Terry Strickland in Alva, OK. It was originally built in 1973 by Delmus Tabor of Edton, NC. Engine mount and gear mods from the old Starduster Corp. were done in 1998.
Currently I'm wrestling with a canopy maker to get a canopy blown for it. I'm hoping to get that done before the winter is over. Not too much fun flying open cockpit in Calgary winters!
