• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello again! Ive been reading over the steen aero ss wing plans (would not recommend unless you are willing to buy their kits as well!), and am trying to fill in some missing peices. To anybody out there with experiance...your help would be greatly appreciated! For starters, what thickness of mahogony should i buy for the gussets? (no dimentions on anything, so im using tracing paper). What are the dimentions for the capstrips? Type of wood for the routed ribs and thickness (rib 9 U and L).Also, the cove peice on the trailing edge of all ribs, before the aileron....what type and how thick of wood goes there? Sorry for the barrage of questions, but steen was no help! In fact, they told me to ask yall! Again, any help would be much appreciated! Im determined to build these wings, though its guna be a long process!
