• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Ok you Starduster fanatics...don't shoot me!
So my gear is 4" back, not the 8-10 recommended. Engine is 25" which seems odd since folks generally went 24or 26 when the plans were updated or Dave B. was answering questions at Starduster Inc.
We've seen the C120-140 gear CG fix putting the gear cg forward....why not go the other way with a Starduter, it looks pretty easy? It looks easier for my skill level and you could make it hinged to absorb energy like a carrier aircraft! Either a 1-2 inch rubber bumper or mini shock, could also raise (lengthen) the gear to get the prop higher if that is a desirable thing too. In the photos of my gear(note rusted disk)the front of the tire would be where the front of the caliper is now. I think the spats would still work too. Where's Mr. Surf, Osvaldo, need a spiffy CAD drawing to make it real and some calcs...

Waitin' patiently for the sh!t to hit the fan now....
