Never having used a vernatherm before I decided to try one. I understand the how and why of them but not which one. In browsing the internet I have found prices from $45 (used, eBay) to $573 Lycoming certified.
In my browsing's I ran across a statement by Larry Vetterman which was very adamant about removing the vernatherm and replacing it with an oil cooler bypass that was cockpit operated.
I guess I am in need of an education. I have had 3 auto engined aircraft without vernatherm's with no oil temperature problems so first question -
Do I need one ?
If so, what system is best, vernatherm or remote controlled bypass ?
If vernatherm, which one ?
Where is the best location for a vernatherm, engine mount, filter mount, remote mount or cooler mount ?
Any and all information greatly appreciated
Thank you,
