I really like the concept behind the J-6 series of Wright engines of having interchangeable cylinders, crank shafts and nose and accessory cases between 3 different engines, the J-6-5 (R540), J-6-7 (R760) and the J-6-9 (R975). However, it wouldnt appear that they found favor in the everyday commercial uses like Ag work and so on. Even Wayne/Walt Pierce had one originally on his Stearman and changed it out in favor of a Pratt. Personally, I love them and so do my friends with antiques, but does anyone know if they had an inherent problem? Did they have an Achilles heel of some sort?
Thanks in advance.
