Yak 55 airshow crash 6/1/2014

There was a crash this past weekend at an airshow in WI. The pilot, Bill Cowden, was killed in the crash.

Can anyone comment on what they see happening (aerodynamically speaking) in this video? I've never flown a Yak 55 or any taperwing aerobatic airplane, just radio control. What I saw in the video though reminded me of the time I crashed a CAP 232 model due to an inadvertent tip stall.
