• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I hope you don't mind that these questions are for a Cassutt and not a bipe... but I figured you guys have a lot of experience with tube, fabric and wood.

I am looking at a project that was started many years ago. Early info on the builder/logs seems to be gone. I was in the area over the weekend so I took some pics of the fuse and wings as best I could. I would like some opinions on what you think about the build quality and how to verify the structure.

I did show some fuse pics to a welder here at work and although ugly looking he thought they looked to have penetration.

The wing is supposed to be the 'Sport Wing' and neither the fuse or the wing have ever flown.

The current Owner has covered the fuse and wing using the Loehle system. I was planning on removing the fuse covering to blast it and paint it before re covering.

Thanks for the input guys,

Dan
