• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Ok, 1 year of ownership has been great. A lot of priceless memories. That said, it's inspection time. I just found out that there aren't any inspection holes on our top wing! How could this be? Maybe in was recovered as some point, but still, wouldn't it have them? And the bottom wing only has 2 per side and he says there should be 3. The guy that will be doing our inspection says he can't pass the airplane without looking into the wing. While I'd rather save the money, this seems to make sense. He seems very knowlegable and explained about drag/anti drag wires. Also about the blocks that can crack. He also knows about the gear longeron problems. So I'm trusting he knows what he's doing. That said, this could be a very expensive annual!

Thoughts?

What else can be an expensive fix?

Thanks, Lou
