I have a question for the panel of experts; my engine an IO366-A3B6D has dynamic balance weights on the crank. Do I need them? Are they there to cancel out dynamic interactions between the engine and the prop or are they there for passenger comfort? Would the need for them be reduced if I was using a light mass prop or would it be increased because of the reduction in flywheel effect? Only about half of the O-360 family has them anyway. I was going to install them but a conversation with someone at Aircraft Specialty Services got me thinking maybe I don't need them. Let the debate begin.
