Hi folks,
Here's something I occasionally wonder about, and every passenger seems to ask me:
What would happen if a passenger came out of their harness while inverted?
The inevitable bit of slack in the straps of the factory harness tends to cause a moment of panic once inverted. Everyone always asks "would the canopy hold me if I fell out?". I assure them: of course it would! But I have no idea. I have heard stories of fire extinguishers going through canopies in high negative g-loads. Even at 1G, a passenger weighs considerably more! This must have happened throughout the years - does anyone know of an incident, or have first hand experience?
Thanks
