• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

OK guys, strange question.

I currently have a Christen wobble pump, it was there since the machine was built in the 70's and has just had an IRAN and runs well, the aeroplane is currently being rebuilt.

I like the simplicity of the wobble pump, gascolator and fuel shut-off all in one but also am thinking about the ease of having the electric pump should the need arise. I'm not super worried about having to wobble the pump should the engine driven pump fail but there are quite a few places in NZ where the time between suitable landing sites could possibly exceed the arm fatigue factor.

The engine is running a Rotec TBI so only need low pressure.

My thing is that I am lazy, I would really like to just run the hoses and everything pretty much the way it was. I'm not to keen on doing a system redesign, find places to put the pump, associated filters, fit a gascolator and fit up a fuel shutoff.
Can anyone see a reason why you couldn't run a small electric fuel pump directly after the wobble pump, utilise the inbuilt mechanism of the Christen for fuel shutoff, gascolator and filtering?

Just a thought.

Ryan
