• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi Dave,
It's been a long time in coming but Doug & I got our Starduster airborne for the first time yesterday. I have never flown a taildragger or even a homebuilt before but I had this one up for about an hour. It fly's well but I will have to get use to the stick and compared to my docile Cessna hours this one feels more like a sports car. It fly's a tiny bite right wing heavy but not enough to bother changing anything at this point. Climb is about 1000 fpm at 80 mph does about 122 mph at 2300 rpm. I did not stall it at this point as it was the first flight.

We are going to be a bit over weight when full of fuel but that's partly because the pilots are both around 235 lbs.It will be a fun machine and when we get the 25 hour time flown off on it. I am looking forward ro going to some local fly ins. I think 25 hours should give me a little confidence. Right now I'm just happy to get it up and down again safely'

I attached a picture and also a 5 sec video.I hope you can open it.
Thanks for all the help you gave us during our construction years.
