• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi all, well I started stitching this weekend for the first time, I'm starting on the elevators because they're relatively small and I dont' waste a whole bunch of time if I have to re-do stitches. Which by the way I have stitched the L/H elevator twice because I wasn't happy with it the first time. I'm tying the modified seine knot with the runner on the inside of the fabric, I don't have much trouble getting the knot tight, but I have had a bit of an issue during the last step of the knot when you pull the cord attached to the needle tight to finish off the knot and pull up the "loop". I find that during this step is when the knot will loosen up sometimes, I've been trying to hold my finger over the knot while pulling but sometimes it still loosens up a bit. Anyway, here's some progress shots:
