• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

After a discussion here about spin training, and how it used to be a standard part of flight training, I decided to look into it, and found a training outfit out of Renton (KRNT). Will Allen is the headliner, but I ended up flying with his partner Rochelle (and thus in a Super Decathlon instead of Will's Pitts 2-seater).

Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well last night, so my lesson today was not as long as we had originally planned. We did two hours of ground and ended up only doing an hour of flying, but in that time we did three spins (two left and one right) before I got the sweats -- step one on the four-step path to airsickness, for me -- and we headed back. Fatigue kept me from doing the second flight we'd planned.

I appreciate the recommendations I got here, and I'm glad I'm doing this training. I still dislike acro pretty thoroughly, but who knows, maybe it'll click next time we go up and I'll get the appeal. I've certainly never been in control of the plane for any maneuver as relatively violent as entering a spin, so that was a good new experience.

Thanks for the recommendations and help!
