• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Looking for some input on a prop question. I just bought Glens Acroduster Too and flew it home from Utah to Michigan, so I have about ten hours cross country in it. It has a 180 HP O360 paralell valve spinning a pretty aluminum Sensinich 76-56, but I am definately switching props to a lighter option. The airplane has a newly overhauled crank, but it is the lightweight version, and has a flange extension to boot. The crank is also a non counterbalanced model and has the harmonic issue in the 1900-2300 ish range. My options were MT, Catto, etc., but then I remembered I have a wood Flottorp hanging in my study. Its a 73 b 62. I took it off my EAA biplane in 1988 (it was way too much prop for that O290 LOL!), and its been hanging horizontal since and getting dusted yearly. Thing is flawless. Thoughts? or am I just being a cheappy and should just stick to a new composite.
