Hi does anyone have tips and tricks for hand forming curved flanges on .9mm stainless steel?
Attempting my firewall now. Original was galv with a fluted flange that the cowl bolted up too.
I figured I’ll just try the same method I used for the fuel tank and see how I go. I made some crude fluting pliers out of vise grips and figured I could help shrink bend and stiffen the flange if the hammering on the form doesn’t quite get it done.
I’m guessing the stainless will harden on me? So would quite firm hits trying to form more in one blow be better than lots of tapping?
I could of course just cut a flat one and bolt angle to it for the cowl and panels to bolt up to but I figured this would be lighter and quite satisfying to make ….. or just a frustrating sweaty waste of time and money
