Hey all,

I am confused. I need your help and here's the story...

I have a Pitts S-1D with an O-360 using a Dynafocal mount. In the rush to remove the engine for overhaul, I didn't pay specific attention to the orientation of the "isolators" or "rubber mounts" relative to each other. My plane had the VIP 50011-20 (per the VIP website, this is similar to the Lord J-9613-49 and Barry 94011-20).

I called VIP and spoke to someone there and he said that both sides use the same compound rubber, but one side has two layers (like the meat of a Big Mac) and the other has one layer (like a Quarter Pounder) and there's a steel bushing/spacer in the middle.

My A&P and I are not sure how to install the new mounts. Which side gets the Big Mac and which side gets the Quarter Pounder? So confused, and now I'm hungry typing this post.

Thanks,
Sam Swift
