Since it warmed up nicely here this weekend (over 20F - WooooHooo!), I welded up the engine mount rings.
I jigged up spacers that replicated the spacing of the Barry mounts. The spacers transferred little heat to the engine mounts themselves, so welding on the engine worked well.
Type 1 mounts are 31 degrees. This results in coping angles of 20 degrees for the short side and 23 degrees for the long side. My center to center measurements for the tubes were 18-3/4" and 16". If I did this again, I would add a quarter of an inch to each of these to space these a little further from the rings.
Oh, and I replaced the Lycoming oil filter mount with the B&C adapter. The B&C will allow the engine to sit further aft, helping a bunch with W&B.
I built two just because....
I included the latest draft of the engine mount sketch. Use at your own risk.
Each weighs 4 lbs, 14 oz.
