• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

As I continue to develop the competition aerobatics concept for the FSX Air Sports Association (FASA), I recently tried the IAC 2013 Power Primary in the RealAir Simulations Decathlon (payware plane) in the simulated skies over Borrego Springs CA (where I volunteered at the real-world IAC36 sponsored Hammerhead Roundup last weekend).

This video is a demonstration, I am also working up tutorial videos to cover control inputs, where to look, etc. The desire is to create an environment where folks can enjoy competition style aerobatics using FSX.

As with military and commercial flying, the simulator is only one of many mechanisms that CAN be used for developing skills, and using a desktop simulation like FSX (now Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D) certainly has some limitations, several of them significant, but the quality of the base simulation, coupled with highly detailed and accurate add-ons like aircraft, weather, scenery, etc., can all, in my opinion, add to the skillset in a way that is both affordable, as well as safe and enjoyable.

Enjoy!
