• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

A rare find in aviation; an older gentleman in eastern WA purchased a Hyperbipe kit from the Sorrell Bros in 1978 to include a tack welded fuselage, engine mount, horizontals and a complete set of built wings.

Recently he decided that the project will never get any attention and I was fortunate enough to be able to obtain the project.

What I got was beyond belief; stored in the desert there was no corrosion, and the box the wings were sealed in hadn't been opened since 1978! I invited Mark and John Sorrell to help me uncrate the wings and they look and smellas if they were built yesterday.

So now, the "new" Hyperbipe is welded, with engine mount attached in a jig and awaiting gear legs, while the wings are ready for ailerons.

Hopefully, my Hyperbipe will be zipping around the PNW in a couple years asa fitting tribute to the Sorrell's unique design.

Think a light SNS-7 could hang in the Bronze at Reno?)
