Howdy Folks! I trust that you and yours are well....
I’m at wits end on a “Erratic Oil Pressure” situation after installing an Oil Filter Adapter to replace the stock oil screen housing at the rear of the Accessory Housing. Lycoming IO540 G1C5 300HP.

I did-not build the engine and I have hardly no information about its build up as the owner passed away before we could talk.

I have about thirty (30) hours operating the engine before the oil screen housing change out and with no Oil Temp or Pressure indicating difficulties. Nice strong engine.

My cockpit instrument is a Westach 2 1/4” dual Temp/Pressure gage.

Indications: At engine start.... oil pressure comes up immediately to Max, then falls to Zero. After the motor oil warms a few moments, the oil pressure will hold 50-60psi steady.... However, bringing rpm above 1000 will cause a drop off until throttle backed off about 200rpm. This process can be repeated until 1500rpm with steady oil pressure. Finally, with throttle moved to takeoff power, the oil pressure immediately drops to zero until the throttle reduced to approximately 1500rpm. Idle rpm holds oil pressure at 50-60psi.

I have fresh Aeroshell 100 Plus at 11qt. on the stick. Also, I have checked the electrical connections at the oil pressure sender.

Hopefully, this info is helpful..... Anyone experienced this before? As a last resort, I will reinstall the original oil screen housing..... not preferred at all..... I really like the new Oil Filter Adapter.

Thanks Folks!
Dan
