• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Attention OpenAero Aresti drawuing software users!

This note is to identify a problem with Free Programs prepared using the OpenAero software, where a Floating Point is used. For IAC contests, the rule book specifies in 6.2 that the initials "(FP)" must appear on the Form A where a Floating Point is applied to a figure K.

An unfortunate friend asked me to check his Free Program and I observed that OpenAero does not write the correct "(FP)" notation. Not a big one but the Free Program is technically non-conforming to the rules. Which means that they can be rejected at contests.

For now, prior to having the Free Program reviewed and signed by an IAC Judge, the correct notation can be hand written onto the Form A. Hopefully the folks who support OpenAero will address this issue.

Best of luck,

Wes
A minor corrupt IAC official...
