• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

    The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello again everyone
Id like to start off by thanking everyone for helping me out to decide on a previous project i almost bought, thankfully with your wise advice i walked away to find something better;

Here i am looking at an aviat certified pitts s1s Brand new fabric and all structure has been inspected before recovering, the catch is i dont want the engine as its an angle valve 200+ horses with hollow crank and flange with lightening holes! A disaster waiting to happen ...the seller agreed to sell the airframe/wings only but it has been close to impossible to find a certified stock engine for that pitts, an aeio360-b4a

My question is.... How hard is it to stc a different io360 in there?
Or can it even be done?? I really like the airframe with the new fabric and red paint scheme if only i can find a certfied engine to install and fly it into the sunset (inverted ofcourse)
Your thoughts?
