The Museum of Flight at BFI is the canonical place to go. Also very good are the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum and the Historic Flight Foundation at PAE. FHCAM is pretty famous, since Paul Allen (Microsoft co-founder) funds it, and basically everything they have is airworthy. If you're at PAE, you can take the Boeing tour, which tours the building where they build the 7x7 lines (http://www.boeing.com/company/tours/). In former years I'd recommend the Vintage Aircraft Museum in Concrete, but it has closed down after the founder/funder passed away. I bet the Navy runs tours of ships (probably including carriers) in Bremerton, but I don't know of them myself. I'm sure there's more available, too.

thanks. his job keeps him aboard carriers most of the time so he'll probably pass on that one but will let him know the others.

The Museum of Flight is right across the street from Boeing.

This is true, but I don't think Boeing does tours at their Boeing Field facilities, only Paine Field, about 30 miles to the north.

The Boeing Museum restoration facility is at Paine. Well worth going.

New addition to the local museums: Point Fosdick Antique Airplane Hangar

Been through their collection a couple times, some really nice airplanes.

Another quirky place is Randy's Restaurant at the south end of Boeing Field. The food is nothing to write home about, but the decor is. Lots of memorabilia in every nook and cranny.
