Hi,
Although we are building a Hatz Classic biplane, I wonder if any 4 aileronbiplane builders have used other material than 4130 round tubing for slave struts?
In order to save weight and loads I wonder if one could use carbon round tube for the slave struts instead of relatively heavy steel tubing. I would then plan to glue in threaded plugs for attaching the ball terminals. In contrary to aluminum I think that carbon would not ask for a larger dia tubing and the heat expansion would also be less...
Any thoughts and experience are welcome!
