• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I've noticed that on a full stall flare landing my right wing will stall first. This rarely happens however I was able to capture it on this video. I now have 55 hours on this Super Baby Great Lakes and in the air, after some buffering it gently stalls straight ahead. My question for this group is, why on landing will the right wing stall first when in flight it stalls straight ahead.

One of the really smart guys on our BGL Face Book page thought it might be the prop wash slipstream splaying out beneath the Baby is somehow affecting the right lower wing when in ground effect. Or the asymmetric downwash thrust on the right side of the fuselage (yes, even at idle power) is imposing just a slightly greater angle of attack upon both right wing planes thus creating that “critical angle” just a hair more than the left side.

Thoughts?

Be safe and stay healthy!
