I purchased a mostly built Pitts S1-C project a few years ago and am finally getting around to putting it together. It came with a super fancy Kevlar racing canopy and cowling (I'll actually get some pictures tonight for better context). The cockpit has about a 6" stretch to it (no fuselage stretch). The canopy is embedded into the top Kevlar panel designed to tip to the right.
However, when I mocked the wings into place I noticed that the upper wing gets in the way of the canopy tipping over. What are some options to get around this?
My ideas so far:
1. Make a new aluminum panel to mimic a stock piece that I can fit a stock windscreen/canopy to on standard sliders but is set back 6". This would eliminate the nice large cockpit opening I have.
2. Crazy hinges? something I havent thought of? lift up like the ultimate bipe canopy?
3. Foam molds and heat-roll my own lexan 2 Piece slider windscreen/canopy and make an aluminum panel to fit. This would let me retain the sleeker lines and larger cockpit opening and could potentially make for improved visibility
