I have a terrible tailwheel shimmy when I land on asphalt. I've read, I think, everything about the subject on the internet. While empty, the camber of the tailwheel is just the slighest bit positive, almost neutral. I'm sure with my fat butt onboard, it goes negative. I am contemplating having my springs rearched, but here's my dilemma. The plane, as it is now, sits in such a flat attitude, I fear that a rearched spring will make it even more flat. Already at a disadvantage with the short main gear.
An alternative I'm kicking around is installing the Raven locking tailwheel with the long round "spring". This would afford a more tail low landing attitude and lengthen the distance between the mains and tailwheel.
Is there a way to arch the spring without making the tail even higher off the ground?
Best regards,
Brad
