Hey guys,
I have had a Miller econotig for awhile but don't use it much. I have another project I am working on now so will be welding. I mostly weld mild steel and use straight argon and have been useing the er70s2 rod. Everytime I weld I always get a little buildup, then it pops and I have a pinhole. I think I have the metal pretty clean? How do you clean it? I have read that if you use a 308 stainless rod it cures my problems and blends to ms just fine? What do you guys use for welding steel and how much gas? I think my regulator is on 20 or 25, I have to look. It pisses me off because I want my stuff to look prefect. I may weld a couple of inches perfect then I get the pinholes.
Here is my project, its not a plane but it will fly when I am done. I picked up this 2001 ZRX 1200 last month. I am hanging a comp 53mm ball bearing turbo on it. It would only go 155 when I got it. I think with the turbo it will go 155 on one wheel. I am going to start with 12 pounds of boost and av gas.
