To all wing builders...That have traveled this road before.
I am looking at the Skybolt Builders Guide that I have from Steen Aero lab, Inc.
I am looking at Upper Wing Assembly that I have from the builders manual from this forum.
The Steen guide shows (not much) but tells me to glue up the scarf joints first, before further assembly.
The same with the forum manual on this topic, not much info and a little sketchy. This literature tells me to install the ribs and other things, then if you have the manual, on page 3 step 10 and step 11 it quickly discusses sliding the wings together and gluing spar splice blocks into position.
Anyway, I am a little confused and If anyone has done this before (probably on any two part wing that is scarf joined in the middle) If you have experience and can shed some light, that would be appreciated.
A/ glue scarf first and then add ribs and things?
B/ install and glue ribs in correct place. Then glue scarf?
C/ install ribs (loose and no glue at this time). Then glue scarf?
I understand that if one doesn't have the space, is to manufacture each half of the top wing and when ready, to scarf join them.
I have the space, I am looking for the best practice available.
Thanks.
