• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

So I've been in Florida for the most part of January and I promised an announcement so, this is from Steve and Kathy:

Wolf Aircraft LLC is happy to announce that Griggs Aircraft will be continuing the Wolf Aircraft product line from this day on.

Wolf Aircraft LLC was founded by Steve Wolf in 1978. He had just returned from the country of Jordan where he spent a couple of years developing and training the Royal Jordanian Falcon Team flying the Pitts biplane. Prior to leaving for Jordan in 1976, he built and flew his first of many Pitts airplanes. Wanting to get more performance out of it, he struck up a good relationship with Curtis Pitts. Curtis gave him some ideas of how to get more performance without compromising the flying qualities and structural integrity of his design. Steve has continued by developing many fine products which improve the performance of this excellent aircraft.

Steve started modifying his Pitts S-1S with a new cowling and rod landing gear to clean it up. The results were amazing. Quicker entry speeds and top speed really helped the performance. Then came new ailerons and wing design to enhance the faster speed and increase roll rate. They were also increased from an ultimate G loads to 10 positive and 8 negative. VNE went from 204 to 229 mph.

Curtis and Steve were at Oshkosh the first time either had seen Sean D. Tucker fly. Sean knew Curtis was watching and really rang his S-2S out. After the flight he ran up to Curtis to get his back patted, but Curtis just told him he was too damn hard on the plane. Sean said, " I only pulled 10 G's". Curtis informed him he designed it to break at 9 G's. Curtis turned to Steve and said, "he isn't going to change the way he flies and I think we need to build him a set of wings good for 12 G's". So that began the relationship of Wolf Aircraft, building Sean D. Tucker's wings, cowling, canopy and titanium gear. Then on to the Wolfpro 540-8 (8 ailerons) which is now called the Oracle Challenger lll. This airplane has the all new 3-D tail of carbon fiber and does things no other plane can do.

Wolf Aircraft has developed many modifications for customers on their S-1 , S-2 and S-1-11 series airplanes. They offer kits for up graded performance including cowlings, landing gear, tail modifications and the latest and best Pitts S-1 series wing kit available. This Wolf S 1 Wingkit has the lowest drag, best roll rate and is the strongest one available. If you search You tube for Paul Bennet Airshows, you can see a video of the wing kit in flight on his S-1S and the prototype Wolfpro 540.

With the success of the wing kit, Steve had many customers requesting that he develop the Wolfpro 360. This is a smaller version of Tucker's and Bennet's plane, with a pumped up 360 of around 220 hp. Which he is currently designing and building.

Chris Murley of Griggs Aircraft is a very talented production man with a great passion for the biplane. His company will be taking over the finished design and producing it for customers. They will also be offering the entire line of Wolf Aircraft components along with the tech support for the products. We know this will be a winning combination for the continuing production of the quality Wolf Aircraft Products. They also have full service fabric and paint shop along with avionics. Their contact is as follows.

I'm sure there's gonna be tons of questions, this a very exciting time and really looking forward to the direction our company is starting to take. Tony at Speciality Aero will continue to produce the wing kits and all components for the wing kit. I'm also really looking forward to working with Tony.
