I recently purchased a new YMF-5c that had been wrecked after less that 60 hours. The tail was heavily dammaged, but the remainder of the plane has little dammage. I am trying to decide on a strategy for repair. I see my 3 options as:
1. Strip this frame and get new frame from the factory
2. Try to get the factory to "stub" this frame behind the pilot's station.
3. Straighten and repair this frame.
The longerons are bent and kinked behind the pilot station, There are two brace tubes bent and kinked adhjacent to the tail wheel (this appears to be from righting the plane not the accident itself) I go back and forth in my thinking on the best repair. If I had accurate plans, I am sure repairing the frame would be simplest. Although I do no expect to sell the plane soon, I do want to keep an eye on how the repair will affect the final value. That being said, I recognize that most buyers want a NDH plane so the value has already been dinged significantly.
What sources of plans are out there and what quality are they?
I would also value any input on sources that would be experienced in this kind of work.
