Hi All
I was almost done putting my Pitts back together tonight when one of my exhaust studs started to pull out when I was torquing them down.
As soon as I felt something wrong I stopped and removed the pipe. The stud definitely was starting to pull out of the head. I installed a couple of nuts and gently tried to see if I could back the stud out but it didn't want to budge and I didn't want to put too much stress on it so I shot it with Aerokroil and left it for the night.
I was going to do some research this weekend on my options, but has anyone had any luck with heli-coils or an oversized stud on a lycoming cylinder?
I am really hoping not to have to pull of jug if I don't have to.
Any thoughts, ideas, or warnings would be greatly appreciated.
