I'm having a curious problem with my IO-360, 200HP, close canopiedSkybolt.
Early on, I realized the four in to one straight exhaustin my Bolt would require ANR headsets to deal with the torturous sound levels. I began by upgrading my David Clarks to ANR through Headsets Inc.
( http://www.headsetsinc.com/). They did a great job, and my headsets are much much better. Completely suitable for most GA aircraft applications.
But, whenever I push the throttle above aprox 85-90%, my headsets have a loudlow frequencynoise that drives me nuts. During takeoff (high pwr settings) and until I reach pattern altitude, I cannot transmit due to the interference. It's so loud, Ican't even hear the sound of my own transmission in the ANR headsets.
Reasoning, that the headset's mic might be picking up some of the ambient noise, I recently purchased a LightSpeed Zulu with an adjustable mic gain. I have the regular, battery powered straight cord, dual plug airplane model. The Zulu is lighter,more comfortable, and noticeably quieter than my upgraded DC's, but the price.....Oye vey! OK, so I got what I paid for, nice headset with great features. But, when I pushed the throttle up to 85%, argh, the same annoying noise! I haven't started fiddling with the mic gain yet, but, I'm wondering.....
Have anyother of youpilots experienced this problem? And, how did you resolve it? Is it just my mic picking up noise at the higher volume?Should I simply adjust the gain?
