• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I had a ride with Smutny in his Christen Eagle a few years ago, which was interesting and very much appreciated, but not highly relevant to the kind of low-n-slow experience I find myself interested in. Does any one know of other biplane owners around the Seattle area who might be willing to let me metaphorically kick the tires? Could be anything from chatting or sharing pictures to letting me try out the cockpit (being a big fellow myself, I could see this being an issue) to actually going for a short flight (costs split 50/50 of course). I'm particularly excited about getting up in an open cockpit plane, which I've never done.

I'm slowly working on finding someone to give me tailwheel instruction (turns out small tailwheel planes like Cubs and Champs don't have very large payload capacities, and finding a sufficiently small/light instructor that we both fit is challenging).
