• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I have a problem that I hope someone has experienced.
I have a brake fluid reservior on the engine side of the firewall. You have to pull the cowling off (Doug Dodge Type) to check the fluid level. Out of the top side of the reservior is a vent line (steel tube) that runs down the firewall. When I fly inverted and roll back upright a small amount of fluid runs out the vent line. It makes a mess. Also before going to a practice or contest I need to remove the cowling to make sure I have fluid. Always have fluid, but sometimes it's 1/2 inch down and Ineed be sure I have brakesbefore going away.
My thought was to bend this line and make a circle then down to the bottom . Anyone do this? Other ideas? It's been this way since 1969.
I know someone has had this problem with their Pitts.

Thanks
