Hello all, I have a Skybolt project I purchased awhile ago and am finally (hopefully) getting started on it. The fuselage is already welded and powder coated so I'd like to minimize the work done on it. It was set up for open cockpit, but I built a Skybolt back in '96 with a slider canopy and really liked having the canopy. TheSteen tip-up canopy looks pretty slick but I was wondering what the group concensus was on it? My two primary concerns (other than $$$$)are:
- what modifications arenecessary to the fuselage (looks like none really from what I can tell depending on how the aft brackets attach to the cross beam)
- any thoughts about being able to crack it a little on the ground without it blowing off due to propblast? I suspect it will get awfully warm under the greenhouse in the summer time even with the tinted canopy.
I'll give Steen a call but would sure appreciate the peanut gallery's opinion.
Thanks,
Marcus
