I'm plodding along with my top wing and starting to sort out the details for the center section. I've got my splice joints trimmed ready for filler blocks and am trying to figure out the tank installation and plywood sheeting.
With plywood leading edges there's a 1/16" step where the plywood ends along the front spars. The S-1S drawings seem to indicate the center section sheeting should be set flush with the ribs.
If the center section sheeting is flush and the leading edges across the middle is installed like the left and right sections, should the 1/16" step just be continued across the center?
Or should I let the plywood from the leading edge sit flush with the center section sheeting by mounting it on the left and right first compression ribs?
I was actually considering continuing the center section plywood sheeting all the way to the trailing edge.
Opinions?
FWIW, I'm jealous as hell of you guys building your wings from nice virgin spruce. I'm trying to salvage the upper wing that I got with my project and make it exactly the way I want it but there's an hour of disassembly and glue clean-up for every ten minutes of forward progress. It's taking forever!!! I'm on my third MAPP gas bottle scraping epoxy for what seems like an eternity.
