As designed Marquart charger fuel tank access is difficult. At a minimum the roll wires have to come off and if you don't make covers for the cabane attach points you'll end up taking off the entire upper wing. A quick search on the forum returns a ton of cases fuel tank repairs. So it seems like access would be good.
What about making the front cowling two pieces by cutting it at the roll wire holes? I think you would be able to lift the tank out with little trouble if you did that. I know lots of people live with it, but having to de rig the plane to get at the fuel tank seems like a problem.
