• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot..

1) With my plans I received two additional sheets that are identical. These sheets appear to be templates for the wing ribs and aileron ribs. There was no inventory list included. Should there be more templates for jigs, etc?

2) The plans make it look like the wings are free to pivot at the root if one of the landing or lift wires were to fail or come loose. The "I" strut seems to keep the distance between the wings constant. Not being an engineer, is this really all that holds the wings in place?

3) I expected to see more step by step instruction in the plans. I think I'll need to spend some time with the local EAA folks. Are there any non-A&P first time builders out there? What were your impressions of the plans? Can I assume that any changes that were published in the news letters have been applied to the plans?

Cheers,

David
