hello all,
I hope to have my engine mount back from Chris at Griggs in the near future but have a question for the Pitts builders here.
Background, I bought the plane last summer as a project, she had been abandoned for 16 years and needed TLC. The whole story is in another thread I posted and am updating
The point of this thread is regarding these two washers on the left side between the engine mount and the firewall, I assume that this was to angle the thrust vector to decrease the p factor when rigging the aircraft.
My problem will be centred on the landing gear mod from aluminum spring gear to the wolf gear. I do not want the landing gear offset with regard to the fuselage .
Should I try to shim the lord mounts or just mount the engine without the shims on the left, and see how the rigging is affected?
Is the placement of shims on the left side common? Pitts S1D plans built circa 1981.....
Thanks for the help
