• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Im removing the two piece aluminum gear and truss and replacing with one piece Grove. We are using the existing radius bars and mounts from the existing gear. We are replacing the bungee truss void with a single 1 inch .065 tube. Looking at the standard gear drawings and the current verticle trusses between upper and lower longerons, it is set up per plans with bungee gear. Chris is sending me some additional drawaings he is using in his Acroduster work for his one piece, but I thought I'd throw this out for some advice. The overall gear geopmetry looks great, but we were wondering if there is a need to add any verticle truss members beyond what is current in the area of the gear mount? The current two piece gear has over 1000 hours and the only crack issue was with the "bungee truss" where the inner gear legs had attached.
