Hello !
I'm in the process of buying a S1S that has a Haigh tailwheel.
My experience is mostly in S2A, S2B and Christen Eagle and some S1S too, but it has always been with steering tailwheel.
So I will have to experience it by myself on my first flight in this aircraft.
For what I've gathered, it seems that taxiing with the Haigh tailwheel can be a bit annoying, having to use a lot breaking.
But landing, with the lock on, seems be ok and with less use of rudders.
I would love to hear people's experiences that could help me to be prepared.
Of course the first question that comes into my mind, is what happen if the lock on the wheel doesn't work when you land, like the cable is broken or something.
Would the airplane be still reasonably controllable or would that be a big challenge?
Any particular things to verify during pre-flight?
Any feedback on what I should expect with this tailwheel is much apreciated!
Thank you very much for your help!
