    But sometimes, it's even better!

I travel a lot for The Boeing Co on AOG jobs. Usually out of country. This time I drew a two month job in Moses Lake Wa just 1 hr flight time from my house.
I drove over last Monday, and Thursday a friend flew over in his 170 to go pick up the Skybolt. He's restoring a Skybolt in the hanger next to mine.
Since I'm working the 8pm to 8am shift, took a few days to get my body on schedule.
Today was beautiful, no wind and sun. Got up a 5pm, grabbed something to eat, and launched to another airport for some fuel, a little sight seeing then to work at Grant County Airport.
I'm keeping the Skybolt at the Moses muni airport at the Jackson Flight Center. They always take good care of me.
When I get off in the morning, well, dang, I have to fly...

Sometimes life if real good!! Although, I had a little trouble getting her down on the 13k long 200' wide runway...Wasn't sure I had enough room.

Early morning flight is my favorite. Cool, smooth air, nice sun rise colors. I always looked forward to flying to Yakima for training so I could see what the sun looked like again;)

Is the KC-97 still sitting at the Moses Lake airport, or did the scrapper get it?

Thats cool duty. I've been to Moses Lake several times. I remember when JAL used to load up a 747-400 with pilot trainees and shoot touch and goes and do air work in the area. That 400 down low with flaps out most the time had to be going through some fuel.

We're working out of the old JAL hanger. Belongs to ATS now.
I was here for 10 months with Boeing Flight Test several years ago, had my Stinson here for the whole time.
    Kinda like old home week...

I'll have to look and see if the KC-97 is sitting around somewhere.

Doug you just keep practicing on landing at such a small airport, and finally you will get the hang of it. When I was down in Calif in 97 went to San Bernardino KSBD AKA the old Norton AFB and we could easily make three take offs and landings on their 10,000' X 200' wide runway. Dave

Parking with the big boys today!

Dave, I know that runway well. When I left here with Flight Test, we went to San Bernardino for another 10 months. I flew T-34's from March AFB while there.

Pic of my Stinson at Moses Lake with our test bird.
Same 747 in San Bernardino taking one of the Engineers for a flight.

It's hard when you're working 12 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Just have to make the time. I usually give up some sleep to do things.
Wouldn't trade it for anything though. It's good work.
