• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

We have started brain storming a trip from NW Illinois to SnF 2017 with Miss Smith, a Pietenpol, and 2 or 3 support craft. So here I will be asking questions and looking for tips from the brain trust to make this trip as painless as we can, if that's possible. At this point we are planning 150 mile legs, leaveing me with well over 30 mins. reserve and one and a half hours flight time, the Piet will have 2 hour flight time but with plenty of flight reserve too. At this point we are looking for end of day lay over point, figure on 3 legs a day, him in open cockpit, me in extremely small cockpit. My plane was made/designed by a 5'7" pilot, I'm 5'10" and have to hold the throttle lever at the lowest/farthest forward point as my elbow is tucked in to the seat back tightly just to make that work with my knees tucked up under my chin.

So, with that said I am looking for guidence for two over night stops. The first one around Nashville or there abouts, the second hopefully will be Valdosta, GA. Looking for recommendations for an airport that has: food and hotel within walking distance or transportation available, hanger for at least two in case of an over night storm, and perhaps camping if we are having a good trip and not suffering to terrible.

Also looking for tips on what to bring. We plan on full camping gear, spare tire and tube, tool box, Tim even wants to bring a spare cylinder. So, here's hoping I can keep this sort of interesting as we move forward.

Ps: By the way minimum electronics, as no transponder, just radio.
