Neil,
Thanks for the following photo and info on cooler installation;
The oil cooler is mounted to the firewall with two
short lengths of aluminum angle that have nut plates installed for the
screws that hold the aluminum angle and cooler together. The angles are
bolted to the firewall and there is a doubler plate on the firewall.
The front end of the cooler is bolted to a mounting flange that is
welded to the motor mount. The oil cooler is a Posi Tec 20005C. One of
the reasons for mounting at an angle is so the oil enters on the low
side and the air is pushed out as the cooler fills. This should
eliminate any air being trapped in the cooler preventing it from doing
its' job. I made a mold from which to make the plenum box for the
cooler.
Do you have a photo of the rear side of the firewall with the reinf. angles, are the angles connected to the tubing?
