I’ve read many great threads on this forum on the handling qualities of the Smith mini, baby GL and Pitts. I currently have About 10 hrs dual in a 200 horse skybolt and time in 5 other types of tail wheel AC. All in all about 200 hrs TW. My day job is flying for a living and so I’m a high time straight/level guy otherwise. I would not try to go jump in a Pitts and try to take It around the patch, but it seems from my reading that the Dual in the Skybolt would translate pretty well to these other smaller types. On Barnstormers there are dirt cheap deals on These fun little bipes like the MONG sport, Smith mini and baby Great Lakes that are worth the investment just for the fun. of course the Pitts C model doubles the price! Is it worth the additional dollars?
I would love to open the discussion on handling qualities of these planes, G ratings for gentlemen Acro and and any maintenance gotchas from those with experience with them. I’m looking for something to just pull out of the hangar on a day off and just go have some fun in a bipe. At 5’9” and 195 it looks like some might be a tight fit though. Thanks for the input!
