Hi everybody,
I've been reading the forum for a little while and figured this is probably the place for me. I've been away from flying for almost six years and I'm really starting to miss it. As for my background, I took a few lessons when I was young but didn't get serious until I started Navy flight school in 2004. Ended up flying C-130s briefly for a reserve squadron but decided to transfer to the Army after a couple of years. After my current assignment is up I'm thinking about going back to aviation as a profession, but in the meantime I will definitely jump back into civilian flying as time and money allows. Eventually I'd like to own an airplane - almost certainly a Pitts of some type.
I've seen Pitts Specials do their thing at air shows since I was a kid, and prior to flight school I was lucky enough to get a ride with Jan Collmer in his Extra 300L. That spoiled me. I also had a lot of fun learning basic aerobatics in the T-34C later on. I figure if I'm going to become financially committed to an airplane, it had better be aerobatic.
My short term goal is to get my flight review and taildragger endorsement, so I can get back in the cockpit. I'd like to have a couple hundred hours of tailwheel time over the next few years, then attend a good Pitts transition course so I can be ready to buy one when the right airplane comes along. In the meantime I'll be learning as much as possible about more advanced aerobatics and the Pitts in general.
