Hi all,

I got my 1977 factory S-1-S ten days ago and have been pouring over the engine and airframe to see what needs improvement. The exhaust is 2-in-1 on each side with a relatively short pipe heading out of the cowling. Very loud and probably not very efficient. One of the two pipes coming off the manifold was loose. The bolt in it pretty thoroughly rusted into the pipe. I have been applying penetrating oil with minimal results and am going to try heating it up with a torch tonight. Aviat wants about $425 for a new one. They don't offer a crossover or 4-in-1 system. Anyone have experience with upgrading the exhaust? There is a veritable plethora of oil hoses going all over with the inverted system. I would hate to have to totally re-organize those. Looking for ideas.

Regards,

Michael
