Hi,

Can anyone tell me how Stolp formed the curved aluminium trailing edges for the SA300 Starduster. What process was used ? What did the tooling look like ?

Sheet 5 of the plans shows the dimensions and simply says "0.032" 6061-T4 Al Aly, Stretch Formed".

I am hoping that someone might have seen the tooling way back when the kits were made and can provide some insight into the process used.

Just thinking aloud, the T4 temper suggests that the parts might have been formed in the 'O' condition and then heat treated after forming to the T4 condition.

I have tried forming one of thetrailing edgesusing some crude wooden tooling and have had some success but the part is far from perfect - certainly no where near as good as an original Stolp kit part.

Thanks,

Terry
